Dai, waiting for the train to pass before resuming work on the line

Something for the new shop!

Shops need somthing to put in the window and for the general store / boot maker, I needed ... well, shoes and boots!

It was a case of idly wondering what should go in the window, followed by a 'wonder if I can make these' moment. I  think it was one of our wet summer days (we had plenty of those this year), so sat at the workbench I started to work on a couple of things!

The boots and shoes were each carved out of a lump of plastic - think it was from packaging, with scrap wood sheet for the boxes and display stands. A  touch of glossy black and brown paint, with matt black for the interiors seemd to do the trick and overall I'm very pleased with them.

The ladder, stands outside the shop door along with some shovels and brooms. I made a quick jig to hold the shape and then sliced up some pear wood nice and thin. PVA would have been too thick, even the runny stuff to get a neat joint, so superglue applied from a scalpel blade hold all of the rungs in place.

Very happy with the results and I now know that I can make make this stuff again in the future if needed. More satisfying than buying them!
