Lighting up Meifford

So far there are not too many lights operating around Meifford, but that is slowly changing.

The layout was designed with dedicated connector blocks, situated under the baseboards to make it (relatively) easy to connect up. All of the buildings that could accommodate lights are built with removable roofs and some of the newer ones have been fitted with lights in one or more rooms, from the start.

Some street lights have also appeared around Meifford. These are modified Langley kits, still retaining the 'pea bulbs' rather than LEDs since they give a light more akin to the gas lights of the era.

All of the houses and shops that are fitted, have LEDs, some white and some yellow, which have been suitably dimmed with the application of a coat of acrylic paint! Once again, they represent either gas or low wattage electric bulbs, so nothing too bright!

Lighting circuits have dedicated transformers providing either 5v or 12v, within the Control Module, plus two distribution boards, which take 16 connections each. A few smaller connector boards are located around the layout to keep cable runs short(er)!

The engine shed has lighting, as have the buildings on the hill. Three of the shops in Meifford have also been fitted out, but sadly I haven't got round to sorting the station buildings yet.

Meifford Slate, by the Canal was the last building to be fitted out - needed to keep the workers on site!
