Loco No. 2 - Blythe

After the problems with the first Loco, the company decided that it must purchase another general purpose Loco with some haste. Having (unusually) some money in the coffers at the time a new engine was ordered and it has proved to have been a wise choice. 

It is popular with the drivers and will haul quite a load. A pity then that they don't look after it - I think they over-spent and now funds for maintenance are a little short!

Reality

Blythe is actually a Smallbrook Studios body kit matched with a Hornby chassis. It has plenty of weight and does indeed haul anything needed and will run nice and slowly when shunting. I am very impressed with these kits, although they do need a bit of tidying  up and thinning of the cab coponents.

A new brass chimney  was turned up on the lathe, because as is usual, the cast resin one wasn't exactly round! I also made the decision to make a new brass cab roof, which improved the look.

Couplings, were originally Kadee at one end and a scale chopper coupling at the other - because I was still deciding which way to go when this engine was ready. I had a goods van with one of each fitted as well so that coupling to other stock wasn't a problem. 

Since then, Kadees have become standard fitting for all Meifford stock.
