Loco No. 7 - Bronwyn
Bronwyn is definitely the ugly duckling of the loco fleet.
We think that the company was 'gifted' this little loco - I'm not sure they would have paid for her! However, it's been noted that she is actually a very strong runner, great at slow running and actually can tackle all the things that James was bought for.
Reality
Bronwyn is actually one of those locos that just 'happened'. I had a spare Hornby 'Smokey Joe' and thought about buying another body kit for the chassis, but then looking at the model, thought it had potential for a conversion 'in house'!
So, after a bit of butchery, then a few alterations and additions such as -
- Removal of the existing Cab and the addition of a new footplate
- Removal of 00 buffers
- Turning up a new chimney and dome in brass
- Making a new cab (plasticard), plus new brass roof
- Constructing the unusual outside 'saddle' coal bunker
Bronwyn appeared!
Kadees at both ends make here a really useful loco.
