Meifford Locomotives

The Fiction...

Locos on the Meifford Light Railway are a pretty eclectic mix. Since the railway is, like so many small narrow-gauge railways, pretty cash-strapped, most have been bought in from a number of different sources. Many have already had a pretty hard life by the time they arrived!

Most could do with a little care and attention, not to mention a bit of a clean up, but then as passenger services are only a secondary consideration on the line, no-one seems to worry that they have lost their 'shine'.

For some reason Meifford seems to have more motive power than is really necessary for the number of trains that typically run in one day! Mind you there are always several in for repair at any time, so perhaps not.

Meifford Reality

Most of these locos are here just because I liked the look of them and apart from a couple of them and I enjoyed building them.

All have been built from commercial kits, either brass, resin or whitemetal. Some are built 'as they come' and others have been modified. Many of them are body kits fitted with commercial chassis.

Since the line is fictional I had no need to follow a prototype for any of them - but to just enjoy the making and running of them!
