Loco No. 3 - Joan
Joan was actually the 4th Loco that the Meifford Light Railway Company obtained, even though she is numbered No.3, the reason being that she was bought from another struggling line and was already numbered!
Joan is used on the morning and evening trains out on the top line to Llanfyllin and if needed, to collect goods from the canal interchange. Joan is the only side-tank Loco in the fleet. Due to the long overhang front and rear, the deep cutting and protruding rocks on the lower line had proved a problem. Some chiselling away at the rock faces has solved the problem, but it remains 'tight'!
Reality
This is another Loco body kit from Smallbrook Studios, again mated to a Hornby chassis. For some reason it's such a smooth runner as Blythe, but still ok at slow speeds and getting better as it is run in. This one also has a turned brass chimney, plus dome, to improve on the cast resin versions. Standard Kadee couplings fitted at both ends, which is useful.
