Loco No. 6 - Lydia

The company were so pleased with Blythe that they went looking for another similar one and found Lydia. Lydia had been working on an industrial line, her history given away by the modified cab, which has been fixed together by what seems to be the biggest bolts they could find!

Lydia was really brought in as a general loco for goods and passenger duties.

After a little maintenance, Lydia has now become one of the most reliable and smoothest running locos in the fleet.

Reality

Lydia is a variation on the Smallbrook 'Clio', with a replacement chimney, dome, roof and modified cab. As with the other Smallbrook conversions, it has turned out to be an excellent and smooth running loco.

I have to say that I have surprised and pleased with the little 0-4-0 Hornby chassis that power most of the locos. Very inexpensive, but with a little care they have all been very reliable runners, although I think DCC contributes to this.
