Loco No. 8 - Carwyn
Meifford had the good fortune to inherit a small legacy, although in Meifford terms, it was substantial enough for the company to commission a new loco.
Number 8 had only been in service at Meifford for a couple of weeks, but proved to be an extremely fine runner from the start! The only problem was that no-one thought to liase with the factory on what couplings should be employed! So, 'Carwyn' as she has been named, has to run with an attached brake van currently as a 'go between' to enable coupling to the rest of the meifford stock.
Reality
Carwyn is in fact an EDM models Townsend Hook 3D printed body kit, which marries up to a dapol B4 donor chassis. This is a really excellent model and as mentioned, the chassis is a very fine runner, especially now that Meifford is DCC.
The problem, also mentioned is that there is simply nowhere to accommodate our usual Kadee coupling without hacking at the cast chassis. I have had to resoleve the issue by fitting prototypical hook and links at each end, hence the need for the 'coupler wagon'. Lovely model though and I am very tempted to buy a second one.
